The Caruso is not just a radio or a CD player: it is capable of absolutely everything. It can access anything which supplies music: CD, Internet radio, network music server, USB media storage units, MP3 players, iPod (including control system) and - of course - VHF radio. It plays it back in superb quality via its integral loudspeaker systems. Three power amplifiers, each delivering 50 Watts of continuous power, are directly coupled to the loudspeaker units, which are controlled with carefully defined precision by the active cross-over unit (active loudspeaker concept). The system’s digital signal processor provides a means of fine-tuning the Caruso’s sound characteristics, with the result that the system produces music of great quality whether installed on a sideboard or writing desk or on a bookshelf. The Caruso delivers a sound experience which is quite incredible for its size, and constitutes a wonderful way of being woken up in the morning.

Handling
We have deliberately invested tremendous effort in developing a simple, logical and intelligent control system for the Caruso. Despite its comprehensive facilities, the system is easy and intuitive to operate, using either the front panel controls or the remote control handset.
The unit automatically detects the Streaming Client source devices connected to it, and utilises the facilities of the network and Internet in an optimal way. The Caruso is fitted with the network circuit board and software of the High-End streaming clients used in our E-series and R-series, since they deliver outstanding sound quality. Thousands of these units are already in use, proving the practical effectiveness of the technology and operating system.

Connectivity
	The system’s connectivity possibilities are enormous, and really covers every eventuality: the front panel includes an integral USB port, there is an iPod dock on the top surface, while the back panel features two Cinch inputs (e.g. Phono and TV) together with LAN and WLAN sockets.
A television can be connected via a Composite or high-quality YUV output. Power amplifiers or active speakers can be connected to the integral pre-amplifier output, a sub-woofer output caters for an active sub-woofer, and a T+A SCLINK is provided for connecting our active TALIS speakers. These features endow the unit with enormous potential: if you wish, you can even expand the Caruso to form a full-size Hi-Fi system. The new CM Active fully active loudspeakers complete the Caruso perfectly. These units match the Caruso’s appearance beautifully, offer enormous low bass, are very punchy and dynamic, and reproduce mid-range and treble with great precision.

Case
Like all T+A equipment the case of the Caruso is beautifully made using the best materials available. Although the compact external dimensions presented our development team with an enormous challenge in accommodating the large number of components, we deliberately avoided plastic case parts - as we always do - even though they would have made the design process easier and the production process cheaper. No matter: we wanted the Caruso to be something very special: a clear statement, a work of art, and that is why we designed and built it to such high standards. The side panels, cover, front and back panels are of high-quality aluminium with a brushed finish, and even the loudspeaker chassis cradles are of steel construction.
The sophisticated design of the Caruso is the result of a collaborative effort with ‘moll design’ - a company with whom we have worked for many years. The result is unique, unmistakable, typically T+A and stands out effortlessly from the monotonous appearance of many mass-production products.
