Remote control handset FD 100
» No cover art is displayed on the FD100.
Certain conditions must be fulfilled if an image of the cover art is to be displayed reliably on the FD100; the conditions vary according to the stored location of the music:
However, the same basic rule applies to all storage locations:
The image must be present in *.jpg format, and should be no larger than 300 kByte.
1.) Music files located on a memory medium connected via USB (memory stick, HDD, etc.):
The Streaming Client module is only capable of extracting embedded image information if the files are in MP3 or MP4 format.
For this reason an image will only be displayed on the FD100 if the music file concerned is stored in MP3 or MP4 format, and the file itself contains the image (embedded cover art).
2.) Music files located on a UPnP-AV-capable network storage device (NAS):
If the music file is stored in MP3 / MP4 format and contains an image, that image will always be displayed (provided that the image data are transferred from the server to the streaming client without any change in format).
Most servers are also capable of transferring the image information independently of the music via UPnP; this makes it possible to display the image even if the music is in a different format, such as ogg, flac, wma, wav, ....
However, the requirements for this vary at the server end:
- some servers extract the image embedded in the music file without further assistance;
- in contrast, other servers require the cover art in the form of a separate JPEG image (with a filename such as ‘Folder.jpg’) stored in the album’s folder.
